meeco acquires remaining 66% of the shares from former business partners

The meeco Group, after its holding company meeco Invest AG has purchased the remaining 66 per cent of the shares of the Swiss-based company oursun Japan Holding AG, is now the sole shareholder of this company. The Swiss-based clean energy provider has purchased the shares from two business partners from Italy and Japan. The company can now be fully integrated in the international corporate structure of The meeco Group in order to support worldwide renewable energy projects.

Caribbean island state plans to expand its renewable energy strategy to comply with the COP21 Paris Climate Agreement by reducing its CO2 emissions

The Caribbean island state Trinidad and Tobago pursues the domestic target of generating 10 per cent of its electricity using renewable energy resources by 2021. In spite of the excellent preconditions for renewables, namely a very good radiation of up to 1.710 kWh/m2/year and strong north-east trade winds, clean energy solutions are still relatively rare on the island. To promote the sustainable development of the Caribbean state the University of Trinidad and Tobago in collaboration with the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago presents the conference “Renewable Energy: Road Map 2021 – Where are we and are we on track?” On the June 28th from 8:30 AM to 11:30 PM five renowned renewable experts will discuss the chances of a clean energy supply for Trinidad and Tobago. The conference will be held at the UTT Energy Campus in Point Lisas.

The clean energy approach of the twin-island state Antigua and Barbuda including the 4,5 millions USD clean energy investment at the airport has set an example for the Caribbean. The efforts are now showing reliable and impressive successes. In just six months the 3 MWp sun2live airport solar energy plant, thoroughly planned, installed, operated and maintained by the UK-based clean energy provider PV Energy Limited, has already generated revenues of more than 1 million US dollars. The ground-mounted solar power plant is located at the southwest shoulder of the V.C. Bird International Airport Antigua and feeds the national grid with the energy generated.

Given the severity of the energy shortage in Pakistan, crippling the development of the country, the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) decided to forgo its fuel cost for its gas/diesel gensets and move to long-term sustainability by making use of solar power.
