Since 1992, “Colleges Ontario”, the advocacy organisation for the 24 colleges of the Canadian province of Ontario, annually presents the Premier’s Awards to honour the important social and economic contribution their college graduates have made in Ontario and throughout the world. In six categories, the colleges propose nominees demonstrating an outstanding career success related to their college experience. This year, the ceremony took place on the 27th of November at the Sheraton Hotel in Toronto. Our business partner and one of the directors of our joint venture company oursun Canada Inc., Mr. Lalith Gunaratne was one of the nominees proposed by the Seneca College in the category “Technology”, especially honouring his contribution in renewable energy.

Remote community in Guyana to be powered by solar energy

We will install 400 kWp off-grid sun2live solution to provide Mabaruma Region with clean energy

The Government of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana aims to foster the transition towards a 100% renewable energy supply by 2025. As part of this strategy, the Hinterland Electrification Company Inc. (HECI), associated with the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, strives to improve the electricity situation of remote areas and reduce their dependence on cost-expensive and polluting diesel generators. The Mabaruma region will now benefit from this approach, since the HECI has awarded us the tender to design, supply and install a 400 kWp solar system for the community, which we will execute together with our local joint venture oursun Guyana.

The meeco hot air balloon team has just experienced ten exciting days in L’aérodrome de Chambley located in Lorraine, France. Together with 1,335 pilots and more than 1,000 hot-air balloons registered for 38 nations our team has participated in “Mondial Air Ballons 2017” – the biggest and most famous hot-air balloon gathering in Europe. Despite unstable and windy weather conditions meeco’s Chief Technical Officer and enthusiastic balloonist Thomas Beindorf could undertake five excellent flights with the SunCarrier-branded hot-air balloon above the French landscape.

After completing successfully the 43 kWp solar rooftop installation on the State House in Georgetown in Guyana, we were contracted to equip further 57 roofs of government-owned buildings with our clean energy solution sun2roof.

PV Energy supports Housing Project in Antigua & Barbuda

Our joint venture and clean energy provider PV Energy has supported the Government of Antigua and Barbuda (GOAB) in equipping 20 residential buildings of the National Housing Project with renewable power installations. The GOAB has started the National Housing programme to provide a home for lower-income families. In order to ensure a reliable and eco-friendly energy supply, the residents will obtain their daytime electricity from photovoltaic solar modules installed on the roofs of the houses.
