meeco to install 7 MWp sun2fix Open Access renewable energy generation plant in India

The cost of power is one of the key concerns for industries and commercial enterprises across the globe as well as in India. Maharashtra in India is one of the most industrialised states in India, and the industries are exploring ways to utilise renewable energy to reduce and hedge their energy cost. The Open Access model provides a way by which renewable solar power can be wheeled across the state to accommodate situations where the energy intensive customers do not have sufficient space at their own premises.

NAREI Institute buildings in Guyana as of now powered by clean energy

Guyana is striving towards a sustainable energy future. The government of the South American Republic, represented by the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA), has been constantly issuing clean energy tenders during the last year to reach the target of a 100% renewable energy supply in the country. As part of this program, we were awarded the tender to supply, design and install five sun2roof solar systems for the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) together with our local joint venture oursun Guyana Inc.. The installation of the sun2roof clean energy solutions with a total solar capacity of 16 kWp, including respective sun2safe energy storage capacity has just been successfully completed.

The government of Guyana aims to establish a 100% renewable energy supply in the country. A further step towards achieving this target has now been taken as we, together with our local joint venture company oursun Guyana, have just completed the installation of sun2roof solar energy solutions on the rooftops of 57 government-owned buildings. We had been awarded the project within the framework of a public tender process by the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) to execute this renewable energy project and has managed to implement the customised clean energy systems.

Great honour for clean energy enthusiast

Since 1992, “Colleges Ontario”, the advocacy organisation for the 24 colleges of the Canadian province of Ontario, annually presents the Premier’s Awards to honour the important social and economic contribution their college graduates have made in Ontario and throughout the world. In six categories, the colleges propose nominees demonstrating an outstanding career success related to their college experience. This year, the ceremony took place on the 27th of November at the Sheraton Hotel in Toronto. Our business partner and one of the directors of our joint venture company oursun Canada Inc., Mr. Lalith Gunaratne was one of the nominees proposed by the Seneca College in the category “Technology”, especially honouring his contribution in renewable energy.

But more and more hotel operators are looking for greener and more profitable alternatives. By issuing several clean energy tenders, the Government of the CO-operative Republic of Guyana aims to reach the target of a 100% renewable energy supply in the country. Within the scope of this program, the Guyana Energy Agency has now awarded meeco and its local joint venture oursun Guyana the tender to supply, design and install five solar systems for the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI). Upon completion, the five sites of the NAREI will thereby benefit from a clean energy supply ensured by sun2roof solar rooftop installations in combination with sun2safe energy management systems covering their internal energy needs.

Clean energy expert speaks at United Nations panel in Canada

The UN forum, which took place on June 10, 2016 at the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa, brought together subject matter experts and youth leaders, and involved two panel sessions. Lalith was a part of the morning panel “Marketing and Promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, where business experts shared their views on how to apply innovative marketing strategies regarding the SDGs. The panellists discussed how to ensure a buy-in by the general public and encouraging citizens to work hand-in-hand with the business community to achieve the global SDGs – end poverty, promote prosperity and citizens’ well-being while protecting the planet by 2030.

Renowned award for PV Energy’s 10 MWp solar energy project cluster for Antigua & Barbuda

With our 10 MWp clean energy project cluster, planned, designed and realised for the Caribbean twin-island state Antigua and Barbuda, together with PV Energy we have been selected by the CREF Project Award Advisory Committee to win the award “Best Utility Scale Solar”. The award was presented yesterday at the ninth edition of the Caribbean Renewable Energy Forum (CREF) taking place in Miami, Florida, USA.  As the largest annual gathering of the Caribbean energy market the CREF yearly attracts more than 500 visitors, among them a variety of important representatives of the Caribbean governments.

Remote community in Guyana to be powered by solar energy

The Government of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana aims to foster the transition towards a 100% renewable energy supply by 2025. As part of this strategy, the Hinterland Electrification Company Inc. (HECI), associated with the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, strives to improve the electricity situation of remote areas and reduce their dependence on cost-expensive and polluting diesel generators. The Mabaruma region will now benefit from this approach, since the HECI has awarded us the tender to design, supply and install a 400 kWp solar system for the community, which we will execute together with our local joint venture oursun Guyana.
