Several major solar projects for key industrial players in Lahore and Karachi

As already in previous years, The meeco Group in 2014 once again expanded its activities in Pakistan. Through the launch of the joint venture oursun Solar Power Limited, which was established in 2013, meeco was able to finalise several new photovoltaic projects in 2014. At the end of the year additional 7 MWp will be installed or in the final phases of installation in this country, mainly in the framework of Power Purchase Agreements. Several key industrial players in Pakistan are now benefiting from the advantages of clean energy provided through high quality photovoltaic installations of oursun Solar Power Limited on their roofs and premises.

The year of 2014 in Pakistan was characterised for The meeco Group by major projects and Power Purchase Agreements (PPA). oursun Solar Power Limited started its operations in 2014 with an initial installation amounting to a capacity of 3 MWp with Packages Ltd. The pioneer in premium packaging solutions is located in Lahore. The first part of the installation has been connected in September 2014. This Agreement was followed by two other PPA, one with Seasons Group, a major player in the food industry and one with Supreme Farms for an installed capacity up to 900 kWp (Supreme Farms) and up to 400 kWp (Season Foods). At the end of April these sun2live rooftop installations have been successfully initiated. In the same month oursun Solar Power Ltd. connected a sun2roof rooftop installation, which provides initially up to 20 kWp of clean energy to Mustaqim Dyeing & Printing Pvt Ltd., a growing textile mill company in Karachi. The following June was marked by another two important contracts. Lahore´s future Emporium Mall, currently under construction, will be equipped by oursun Solar Power Ltd. with a 2 MWp sun2roof rooftop installation. This is based on a PPA of oursun with the Nishat Group, which is building this huge and state of the art (in design and technical features) shopping centre. Also in June oursun Solar Power Ltd, and Lahore University of Managements Sciences (LUMS) strengthened their cooperation by concluding another PPA amounting to 300 kWp. In July, Shalamar Hospital, a non-for-profit institute in Lahore also ordered a solar rooftop installation. The respective PPA refers to a clean energy supply of up to 350 kWp. In July Khatoon Industries, an important producer of cosmetic products in Pakistan also concluded a PPA with meeco´s subsidiary in Lahore. The photovoltaic sun2roof installation will have a capacity of 500kWp. In the framework of an other PPA oursun Pakistan finally installed the first 70 kWp of a 100 kWp sun2roof system at the factory of Modern Cold Storage in Okara City. The remaining 30 kWp will follow in 2015. Another 108 kWp rooftop installation is planned for the Karachi site of Friendship Dairies Pvt Ltd., this time as a joint investment.
