Since 1992, “Colleges Ontario”, the advocacy organisation for the 24 colleges of the Canadian province of Ontario, annually presents the Premier’s Awards to honour the important social and economic contribution their college graduates have made in Ontario and throughout the world. In six categories, the colleges propose nominees demonstrating an outstanding career success related to their college experience. This year, the ceremony took place on the 27th of November at the Sheraton Hotel in Toronto. Our business partner and one of the directors of our joint venture company oursun Canada Inc., Mr. Lalith Gunaratne was one of the nominees proposed by the Seneca College in the category “Technology”, especially honouring his contribution in renewable energy. read more

The meeco hot air balloon team has just experienced ten exciting days in L’aérodrome de Chambley located in Lorraine, France. Together with 1,335 pilots and more than 1,000 hot-air balloons registered for 38 nations our team has participated in “Mondial Air Ballons 2017” – the biggest and most famous hot-air balloon gathering in Europe. Despite unstable and windy weather conditions meeco’s Chief Technical Officer and enthusiastic balloonist Thomas Beindorf could undertake five excellent flights with the SunCarrier-branded hot-air balloon above the French landscape. read more

Journey draws public attention to solar energy

A beautiful view over the snow-covered mountains of the Alps represented the reward for our meeco balloon team, which has been exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees below zero. From January 14th until 21st the team participated in the “Ballonfestival Tannheimer Tal” in Austria near the country boarder to Switzerland. Braving the cold temperatures the team flew with its SunCarrier-branded hot-air balloon at an altitude of 3,200 metres above sea level. read more

Caribbean island state plans to expand its renewable energy strategy to comply with the COP21 Paris Climate Agreement by reducing its CO2 emissions

The Caribbean island state Trinidad and Tobago pursues the domestic target of generating 10 per cent of its electricity using renewable energy resources by 2021. In spite of the excellent preconditions for renewables, namely a very good radiation of up to 1.710 kWh/m2/year and strong north-east trade winds, clean energy solutions are still relatively rare on the island. To promote the sustainable development of the Caribbean state the University of Trinidad and Tobago in collaboration with the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago presents the conference “Renewable Energy: Road Map 2021 – Where are we and are we on track?” On the June 28th from 8:30 AM to 11:30 PM five renowned renewable experts will discuss the chances of a clean energy supply for Trinidad and Tobago. The conference will be held at the UTT Energy Campus in Point Lisas.

Zimbabwe Renewable Energy Conference in Meikles Hotel Harare

The meeco Group has recently launched through its subsidiary OurSun Energy (Private) Ltd. its turnkey services and solutions into the blossoming Zimbabwean market.
